Bartók in the Cerrado: Between Tradition and Modernism

2022

The project carried out the recording and dissemination of a concert for a violin duo performing the work '44 Duets for Violins,' composed by the Hungarian composer Béla Bartók. The duo, on this occasion, formed by the couple of violinists Simone Elenciuc (OFG) and Abner Landim (OFG), was responsible for the performance of the mentioned piece.

The recordings were carried out in partnership with the Memorial do Cerrado (PUC), Centro Cultural Oscar Niemeyer (CCON), and Parthenon Center, due to the importance of the institutions for the State of Goiás and the relevance to the project's proposed theme.

There was also an aim to decentralize 'classical music' from traditional concert halls, seeking to relate it to spaces that represent society in its various forms— in this case, through the memory of popular culture and folkloric imagery.

As folk music reflects the expression of different cultures cultivated under various influences in a specific time and space, the appropriate choice of recording locations and the narrative coherence of the audiovisual product are elements that elevate the presentation of these Duos to an unprecedented level with great social potential.
